Welcome!

Howdy,

Welcome to the blog readers! Although there will probably only be two of you, that's ok. I really enjoyed blogging about my experience studying abroad in Madrid, and I'm hoping to do the same with moving to NYC. Well, actually, blogging got to be a pain sometimes, because I was off running around Europe. But rest assured, there will be no running to foreign countries here.

So how am I different than all of the other of thousands of people who are moving to NYC? Well, I'm a recent college grad (yay Syracuse University!), so that cuts the crop in half. I will also be living in one of the most expensive cities on an entry-level salary. So I'm hoping my tales of entertainment activities keep you laughing. For example, Rose and Stacie and I thought it'd be good to have a girls' poker night, just to realize that none of us know how to play poker. Scratch that.

Ok, enough about that. Either you like what you read or you don't. If I write about something interesting I found in the news, or whatever, you get the point. Like today I saw an article in some Alaskan newspaper about how Sarah Palin is threatening to sue a blogger who accused her of resigning due to some investigation; I immediately thought, "Sarah Palin is totally a public figure! If the blogger is completely wrong, then Sarah must prove actual malice!" The blogger knew that too, as she mentioned it later in the article. I wonder if she took comm law with Jay Wright too?

Anywho, I'm finally settled into my sublet. I'm currently living in Hell's Kitchen with two roommates in a 5 floor walk-up. I'm going to have an excellent butt after this haha. A lot of firsts these past few days. My first time food shopping in the city, my first time buying a mattress, my first 4th o' July in the city, etc. I will say that I have fabulous and amazing parents for walking me through all of it and holding my hand via cell phone. All of this wouldn't have happened without them, so thanks a million guys. And I promise I'm going to send you on a cruise for your 50th anniversary.

Tomorrow is my first day of work. I spent today setting up my new bed (it's nice to know i can sleep without worrying about my mattress deflating), reading in Central Park, food shopping, and cooking dinner. I thought I was going to set the fire alarm off because there was lots of smoke (big surprise) and we have no windows near the kitchen that open. So I ran around the room swinging my arms around for 10 minutes to dispell the smoke.

So I will update tomorrow about my first day. I'm not expecting anything too special...lots of paperwork, administrative things, and getting the hang of things. But yay! I'm a big kid now!
