The Obligatory Work Post

So this is me, finally telling the world about what I do. I think I have a better handle on it after 5 days of barrelling through my responsibilities.

1) Media monitoring: Using google news, nexis, and other databases, I scour the news for coverage of my clients. I then log it in a database and screen shot the coverage, or scan it in, and save it for the client.

2) Take notes: I take notes and then type said notes to be distributed later for my account teams.

3) Create media lists: determine which media outlets are appropriate to recieve our pitch or information, and then determining who the proper contacts at those outlets are

4) Read the main newspapers every morning, along with the other Account Coordinators. I have Wall Street Journal and Newsday. Poor Miranda, the girl who started with me...she has the NYTimes, by far the longest assignment.

5) Do whatever my superiors ask of me, which is everyone in the office. But I'm not fetching coffee or only making copies, so I'd say it's pretty good.

So we have summer fridays...yay! But I still got out of work today @ 5, instead of 3. The past 3 days it's been 630 or 645, not 6. Again, can't really complain too much; I have a job, in my chosen profession, in my city of choice. And I work with some cool people. We had ice cream sundaes at work on Wednesday to celebrate all of the July birthdays.

So my roommate that randomly bursts into song is recording stuff in his room. Not a problem...I just wish he would do it when I was at work, since i'm normally gone from the apartment for 10 hours at a time. Not when Becca is getting read to come over haha.

And we have a mouse. His name is Herman. I hope he goes away soon.

  1. Sorry your summer Friday wasn't quite what you expected! Media monitoring takes for-freaking-ever with big clients. But, I'm jealous you get to read newspapers to find your clients! Newsday is my hometown paper :-) I have to do that, but only the Post-Standard for the CoE - it's a pretty small task!

I want ice cream sundaes...NYC offices are fun like that, I remember at B-M they'd have all sorts of parties involving food/booze throughout the summer.

    MIss you!!
